I want to start off by saying that I hope everyone has had a safe and happy holiday season and new year!
Around this time each year, I can't help but think of how quickly the holidays go by. It's always such a shame, but 2023 is here, and I am excited to see how my photography business changes throughout it!
The last few months of 2022 were hectic, but there wasn't a moment where I wasn't enjoying the sudden surge of photo sessions that I was getting! I'm very thankful for it and gained so much knowledge and practice from it all.
This past December, Amanda Miller Realty contacted me to take photos for a holiday Christmas party. The venue for the event was the Fleur De Lis Event Center, located in Mandeville, Louisiana. After having the opportunity to photograph a few events recently, I was excited about a holiday themed one!
I arrived early to make sure that I had ample time to check my settings and get my gear together. When people started walking in, I started taking a few tests shots and was ready to go in no time.
Staying back and watching how everyone interacted was my initial plan. It was a "go with the flow" idea, which let me capture moments as they happened. I mean, it's not like they didn't eventually realize what I was doing there anyway!
As the party went on, I had a few couples and co-workers ask for photos. I also met some great people and ended up having small talk with them throughout the night.
After food was served, groups of people started making their way to the bar. Soon enough, I realized that this Christmas party was now really beginning. Music was playing and people started dancing. This was exactly what I was waiting for!
Later on, awards were given out to a few of the employees as follows:
Bronze Award -Kenny Chaupette
Silver Award - Adam Caro and Chloe Miller
Diamond Award - Frankie Hannan
Double Diamond Award - Kristy Franatovic
Platinum Award - Alan Melton and Raymond Rossignol
Rookie of the Year Award - Adam Caro
By the way, Congratulations to you all!
After the awards were given out, the party continued. What makes a holiday party even better? Games, of course! As the co-workers started turning cups over and finding different prizes, I was able to capture some priceless reactions.
After having more sessions available to me recently, event photoshoots have definitely given me unique opportunities. The valuable time to learn more, and the constant practice helps me grow as a photographer. With an event lasting for a few hours, there's never a shortage of interactions. The laughs and smiles, seeing random small groups having conversations, and people dancing were definitely the bread and butter of this photoshoot.
Hiring a photographer for events is a great way to capture moments, from staged to a variety of candid photos. It also gives co-workers, families, and friends plenty of images to look at and remember their event for years to come!
Thank you for taking the time to read this blog post. This year, I have plenty of new ideas and cannot wait to share them with you all!
